Look through a website : The Harvest

It begins when we were asked to overview a website.
At first, I'm kind of confused to choose which website I should look through so that I can just get this task done faster, but then... The Harvest's website came in mind.

As I'm already connected to the website, this kind of picture below is shown.
Homepage of The Harvest's website

As we can see, the interface of its homepage is attracting enough to be seen by the visitors.
The menus, above the sliding pictures, are ordered in quite simple way yet not confusing with an obvious title for each of them. The visitor may not be having a hard time thinking, "which button I should click, if I wanna look for this-cake or that-cake" because the title already represents the category of what they have in their store. For example, if you want to look for some kind of cake, you can just click on Cakes & Specials on the menu bar. Then, since each of the menus is kind of a drop down menu,  so whenever you click on it, there're gonna be shown the sub-menu of it.

Now, try to point the cursor to any clickable text or icon. Let's take the Cakes & Specials menu as an example. When you point on that, the color will be automatically changing. It's quite a help for the visitors since they dont have to think like "Is this one where I am about to click?" Etcetera. Such kind of question.

Unlike the clickable text on the menu bar, The Harvest label at the head of the site, seems not clickable at the first time we see it, or you can say that it just looks like a normal header. This matter may cause a moment to think for the visitors. The Harvest label here is actually a link that will bring the visitors back to the homepage, but it's a pity since it's not made obviously.

It's actually a simple matter, but without guidance, you may feel the confusion of where you are. That's going to be hard to get back to a certain point since you cant trace back the path. It's what The Harvest's site's lacking of. It doesn't have what most people call as breadcrumb navigation.

Whole cake page
If we take a look at The Harvest's website as a whole, we can tell that this site's concept is elegance with black as its background color and gold as its font color. These two colors make the cake-and-other-picture looks even more stunning. I must say that it's a good thing because -as what I believe- most visitors will only have their eyes set on the cake.
